Local-only/unsynchronized notebooks

An alternative to true E2EE, which many note apps are reluctant to implement (Standard Notes may be the only one that uses true E2EE - they cannot decrypt users' data) because it creates obstacles to search and collaboration features, is local-only or unsynchronized notes/notebooks. Evernote's Local Notebooks feature is an example of this - for notes you don't want even the note app employees to be able to read, you segregate them into notebook(s) that do not get synchronized. So these notes never leave the device they were created on (typically your main desktop/laptop), and are never exposed to prying eyes in the cloud. Downside is you cannot access these notes on your other devices. But security always comes at a cost. And you would only utilize this option for notes where security outweighs convenience of access from all your devices.
